Tathagata holy sacred relics of Lord Buddha to arrive today in Ladakh for Public exposition

In a historic first, the Tathagata holy sacred relics of Lord Buddha will arrive today in the Union Territory of Ladakh for Public exposition from 1st May to 15th May. The holy relics are being transported via a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force with Z-category equivalent security to ensure their safety.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, along with the other senior officials, will receive the relics at the Airport. This is the first time these holy remains will leave their permanent home for an exhibition within the country. The revered relics are associated with the Piprahwa Stupa in Kapilavastu. These sacred relics stand as profound symbols of the Buddha’s living presence and his universal teachings.

This rare exposition offers a deeply spiritual opportunity to reflect, reconnect, and renew citizens’ collective commitment to peace, within themselves and across the world, especially in times when it is most needed. The exposition will also extend to Zanskar from the 11th to the 12th of the next month, followed by a closing ceremony in Leh on the 14th of the next month and the departure of the sacred relics on the 15th of the next month.
