Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate Ganga Expressway in Hardoi today

On the second day of the two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ganga Expressway in Hardoi today. He will also address the gathering on this occasion. Akashvani correspondent reports that the Ganga Expressway is a 594-kilometre-long, 6-lane, access-controlled greenfield high-speed corridor. It has been built at an estimated cost of around ₹36,230 crore.

The Ganga Expressway, developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority, will connect western, central, and eastern regions of Uttar Pradesh through a single high-speed corridor. This will be the longest expressway in the state. It will cut travel time from nearly 12 hours to 6 hours between Meerut and Prayagraj. The expressway will pass through 12 districts: Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

The expressway also features a 3.5-km-long airstrip in Shahjahanpur to support emergency take-off and landing of Indian Air Force aircraft. The expressway project is also expected to give a boost to multiple sectors, including industrial development, trade, agriculture, and tourism and generate direct and indirect employment opportunities across the region.
