In Uttar Pradesh, thousands of women marched from the Chief Minister’s residence to the Vidhan Bhavan under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, protesting the Opposition’s stance on the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. The march saw participation from the BJP state president, both Deputy Chief Ministers, and members of the state cabinet.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the Nari Shakti Vandan Act as a historic step to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. He said attempts by Opposition parties to obstruct the Constitution Amendment Bill related to the Act reflected an undemocratic and anti-women approach. He added that the large turnout of women in Lucknow, despite the intense heat, indicated strong public support for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has witnessed significant transformation, with a focus on women, the poor, youth, and farmers. He noted that schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat Yojana have contributed to improving the lives of women.
