West Bengal: Security Operations Intensified Ahead of Phase 2 Voting

With the second phase of voting in Bengal just around the corner, police across the state have intensified security operations. On Monday night, more than 800 people were arrested in poll-bound districts, bringing the total number of arrests ahead of the second phase to over 2,300.

Acting on the Election Commission’s directive to ensure free and peaceful voting, police have been targeting identified troublemakers. Central forces have also stepped up patrols, route marches, and checkpoint inspections across districts.
