VP Radhakrishnan praises Andhra University for its century-long contribution to higher education, leadership and nation-building

Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan praised Andhra University for its century-long contribution to higher education, leadership and nation-building during the University’s centenary celebrations. Addressing the gathering, he described Andhra University as a historic institution that shaped generations of intellectuals, administrators, scientists and leaders who contributed significantly to national development. He appreciated the university’s strong performance in the National Institutional Ranking Framework and its commitment to quality education, impactful research and holistic student development.
 
The Vice-President recalled Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served as Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University and strengthened the country’s higher education system through visionary leadership and intellectual excellence. He highlighted Visakhapatnam’s emergence as a key centre for information technology, tourism, electronics and data infrastructure.
 
Welcoming Amaravati’s declaration as the permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh through Parliamentary approval, he said the decision would ensure administrative stability, unity and long-term development for the state. The Vice-President said developed states were essential for achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat and described Andhra Pradesh as one of India’s fastest-growing states.
 
Urging students to use their talent responsibly and manage time effectively, the Vice-President called upon youth to actively contribute towards building Viksit Bharat. He expressed confidence that Andhra University would emerge among the world’s finest universities in the coming years. The Vice-President released a commemorative coin, a commemorative stamp, and a coffee table book on the occasion. Three MoUs were also exchanged during the event. He digitally laid foundation stones and inaugurated several developmental projects related to the university. The Vice President also visited a photo exhibition displaying the history of Andhra University and its evolution during the occasion.
 
Andhra Pradesh S. Abdul Nazeer, former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, along with other dignitaries, were present during the occasion.
