A one-day special session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly has been convened today. The session will deliberate on the Nari Shakti Vandan Act and the issue of providing 33 per cent reservation to women.
During this special session, both the ruling party and the opposition will present their respective views. It is being speculated that the government may bring a motion of censure against the opposition over its voting against the proposed amendment to the Act in Parliament.
In view of the session, the administration and police have made extensive security arrangements. Strict surveillance is being maintained in and around the Assembly complex, and special vigilance has been directed at sensitive locations to ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the proceedings.
