Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee with major project push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the closing ceremony of Sikkim’s 50th Year of Statehood celebrations at Paljor Stadium today. Governor of Sikkim Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, along with state ministers and Members of Parliament, will also attend the event.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate, launch, and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth over ₹4,000 crore across the state. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.

These projects span a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, power, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture, and are aimed at accelerating holistic and inclusive development in Sikkim.

Among the key projects, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 100-bedded Ayurveda hospital at Yangang in Namchi district. He will also inaugurate the permanent campus of Sikkim University at Yangang.

The state government will present a mega cultural event themed “1000 Steps of Unity,” featuring over 1,500 local artists in the presence of the Prime Minister.

Prior to attending the event at Paljor Stadium, the Prime Minister will visit the Orchidarium located at Ridge Park in Gangtok along with the Chief Minister.
