Major political parties making their last push for assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal

In Tamil Nadu, Union Minister Piyush Goyal claimed that a massive wave in favour of the NDA is evident and clear. The General Secretary of AIADMK, Edappadi Palanisamy, blamed the DMK for a dynastic rule. Campaigning at Salem today with NDA partners, he said that the state is infested with law and order issues, and it needs an efficient Government. He also said that the successful schemes implemented by the AIADMK Government were conveniently shelved. DMK MP Kanimozhi today campaigned at Thoothukudi, explaining the achievements of the DMK government. BJP leader K. Annamalai participated in a two-wheeler rally in support of Vanathi Srinivasan at Coimbatore South. She asserted that the DMK did not take any action on Senthil Balaji, despite the cases, but made him a candidate in this election. PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramdoss, while campaigning at Salem, said that violence against women was on the rise and people wanted relief from that and criticised the DMK for not allowing the Women’s Reservation Bill to be passed. TVK founder, actor, and politician Vijay is campaigning in Chennai.

The campaigning, which began on the 10th of this month, will end this evening. The NDA alliance, led by Edappadi Palanisamy, the general secretary of the AIADMK, has four big partners and smaller parties in it. The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance has 16 parties in it. The campaigning has been consistent from all the parties, garnering votes for their alliance. The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, led by actor-politician Vijay, and NTK, led by actor Seeman, are contesting independently in this election. The All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, led by V.K. Sasikala and PMK founder Dr Ramadoss, has allied to face the election. A total of 4023 candidates are in the fray, and everyone is trying to reach the last voter possible for canvassing.

In West Bengal, a total of 152 seats will be under the polls in the first phase.
