Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has emphasised the importance of the timely execution of works, adherence to strict quality standards, and the adoption of advanced technologies to ensure sustainable and efficient highway infrastructure. The Minister said this while chairing a review meeting held in New Delhi. During the meeting, Mr Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance progress of seven thousand 926 kilometres of National Highways in Karnataka and one thousand 513 kilometres across 61 National Highway projects in Kerala. He also stressed the need to accelerate on-ground works, strengthen quality monitoring systems, and adopt modern construction practices to enhance asset longevity and ensure seamless connectivity across key highway corridors.
The Minister directed officials to ensure full preparedness ahead of the monsoon season, ensuring preventive measures and uninterrupted traffic movement across the highway network. Mr Gadkari also instructed officials to undertake planning for the monsoon season.
