Sixteen people were killed over the weekend in strikes across Ukraine, Russian-occupied territories and Russia, as fighting continues in the prolonged conflict.
Nine people died in Russian drone and missile attacks on Dnipro, while separate strikes in Crimea, Luhansk and Russia’s Belgorod region also reported casualties. Ukraine said it carried out a drone strike on an oil refinery in Yaroslavl, triggering fires at the facility.
Amid the violence, Ukraine marked the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning that ongoing attacks near nuclear sites risk a repeat of past catastrophes.
