All schools across nine districts in Mizoram remained closed today due to heavy rain. School Education Director Angela Zothanpuii said that administrations in nine districts, including Aizawl, Kolasib, Lunglei and Mamit, announced the closure of schools today as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the students.
However, schools in the southern districts of Hnahthial and Lawngtlai remained open following a slight improvement in local weather conditions. India Meteorological Department (IMD) data indicated that Serchhip recorded the highest rainfall of 70.5 millimetres in the last 24 hours, followed by Hnahthial with 55 millimetres, Siaha with 37.5 millimetres, and the state capital Aizawl with 36 millimetres.
