LPG supply across state remains stable despite global geopolitical challenges: Manipur Govt

Manipur Government has said that LPG supply across the State remains stable and is being continuously monitored to ensure uninterrupted delivery to households, despite global geopolitical challenges affecting energy markets.

Addressing a press conference in Imphal, the Director of the State Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department said that domestic LPG supply remains a key priority of the State Government. He said Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has ensured uninterrupted distribution across Manipur, with around 11,000 cylinders being supplied daily, a level comparable to the pre-crisis period.

He urged consumers to use digital booking platforms such as SMS and IVRS, which now account for about 54 per cent of total bookings. He also said the Delivery Authentication Code system has been implemented to ensure delivery to genuine customers.

The Director added that IOCL is working closely with the State Government to curb malpractices in LPG distribution, and 224 surprise inspections have been conducted since 24th of last month. He further informed that LPG allocation for health and education sectors has been restored to 100 per cent, while 60 per cent supply has been released for other sectors.

Special arrangements have also been made for migrant workers, with 13 distributors identified to supply 5-kg cylinders under the Free Trade LPG scheme. He appealed to the public to avoid misleading information that may trigger panic buying of petroleum products and LPG cylinders.
