Kerala: IMD issues yellow alert for hot, humid conditions till Sunday

In Keralam, amid scorching heat, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for hot and humid conditions in the state till Sunday. Maximum temperatures are likely to reach 40 degree Celsius in Palakkad district, 39 degree Celsius in Kollam, and 38 degree Celsius in Kottayam, while several other districts may record up to 37 degree Celsius, about 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has urged the public to take precautions to prevent heat-related health issues.
 
In Kasaragod district, a 13-year-old student suffered sunstroke while playing outdoors and was admitted to hospital with burn injuries. In a separate incident, a KSEB lineman in Kollam district sustained sunburn while on duty and was given first aid at a taluk hospital. The IMD has also forecast isolated rainfall in various districts on 20th and 21st of April.
