Iranian Foreign Minister says his visit to Russia aimed at coordinating with Moscow following war involving Israel, US

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said today that his visit to Russia was aimed at coordinating with Moscow following the war involving Israel and the United States. In an interview posted by the Iranian news agency, Mr Araghchi said his trip provided a good opportunity to consult with Russian officials on recent regional developments and ongoing tensions.

He said talks planned in Islamabad were delayed due to Washington’s excessive demands, adding that earlier negotiations failed despite progress. Mr Araghchi also said his earlier visits to Pakistan and Oman included discussions on potential Iran-US negotiations and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister is expected to hold talks in St Petersburg to conduct high-level discussions with senior Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, according to Iranian media.
