Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that cooperation between Iran and Russia continues to expand amid regional uncertainty. Araghchi, who met President Putin in Saint Petersburg, said recent developments reflect the strength of the Iran-Russia strategic partnership and appreciated Moscow’s support for diplomacy. President Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to assist in efforts to restore peace in West Asia.
The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, was described as constructive and practical by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia is prepared to offer mediation acceptable to all parties. Araghchi also said that the United States failed to achieve its objectives in the recent conflict with Iran and noted that Tehran is evaluating proposals for further negotiations. The developments come amid uncertainty over the next round of Iran-US peace talks, following earlier discussions that did not yield concrete results.
