Indian Railways sanctions infrastructure and technology upgrade projects worth Rs 765 crore 

Indian Railways has sanctioned a series of infrastructure and technology upgrade projects across the East Coast, South Central and Western Railway zones at a cost of over 765 crore rupees. It has sanctioned over 318 crore rupees to upgrade the electric traction system on the Duvvada-Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram section of the East Coast Railway. The 106-kilometre route will be converted from the existing 1×25 kV system to the advanced 2×25 kV system, enabling higher freight loading and improved train speeds on the Howrah-Chennai corridor.

Railways has sanctioned over 259 crore rupees for upgrading the traction system on the 126-kilometre Raichur-Guntakal section under South Central Railway. The project will improve power supply capacity and help operate faster passenger and freight trains on the Mumbai-Chennai route.
 
It has further approved project worth 187 crore rupees for laying one thousand route kilometres of optical fibre cable in the Vadodara and Mumbai divisions of Western Railway. The project aims to strengthen the digital communication backbone and support systems such as Kavach, the indigenous train collision avoidance technology. 
 
The Ministry of Railways in said that these projects aim to strengthen railway operations, increase freight capacity and modernise communication systems across critical sections of the network.
