India and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the information and broadcasting sector. Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma called on Bangladesh’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon in Dhaka today. 

 

During the meeting, both sides discussed a broad range of initiatives to enhance collaboration between media and broadcasting institutions of the two countries. They also agreed to promote exchange visits of media delegations to strengthen people-to-people ties and foster mutual understanding. 

 

The High Commissioner proposed several capacity-building programmes for journalists and media professionals under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation initiative. As part of these efforts, a special training course for women journalists from Bangladesh is expected to be organised in India in the near future, said the High Commission.
