The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert warning predicting heavy to very heavy rain till the 1st of May. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious. Gusty winds of speed 50-60 kilometres per hour have been predicted by IMD. Citing the risk of flash floods, the East Khasi Hills administration said that people are required to take extra care during heavy rainfall, as there is a likelihood of flash floods, especially in areas near the rivers and streams. The public has been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period.
