The Gujarat High Court today dismissed the appeals filed by the Asaram Ashram Trust and refused to grant any interim relief, clearing the way for the state government to reclaim over 45,000 square metres of land in the Motera area currently occupied by the Ashram.

 

In a significant ruling, a division bench upheld an earlier order of the Ahmedabad District Collector for resumption of the land, citing serious violations of allotment conditions. The court observed that the Trust had repeatedly violated the law and held that there was no scope for regularising such unauthorised constructions.

 

The reclaimed land, located near the Narendra Modi Stadium and the Sardar Patel Sports Complex, is expected to be used for infrastructure development related to the 2030 Commonwealth Games and future Olympic bids.
