Foundation stone laid for Road Under Bridge at Level Crossing Number 123 on Ambala-Chandigarh rail section

Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh has said that the closure of level crossings is no longer mandatory after the construction of Railway overbridges, provided it is technically and operationally feasible.

He said Indian Railways has adopted a more public-centric approach to keep level crossings operational even after the construction of ROBs, ensuring convenience for residents, shopkeepers and small traders.

The Minister was speaking at Baltana near Chandigarh yesterday, where he accompanied Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to lay the foundation stone for a Road Under Bridge at Level Crossing Number 123 on the Ambala-Chandigarh rail section.

The project will be built at a cost of over 12 crore 80 lakh rupees on a 50-50 cost-sharing basis between Indian Railways and the Chandigarh Administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said Indian Railways plays a vital role in strengthening the spirit of unity in diversity by connecting people from different cultures across the country.
