The West Bengal government has issued a strict directive regarding statements and disclosure of information by government employees to the media. The Chief Secretary’s circular has been sent to all departments, district administrations, and police administrations.

According to the directive, officers of the All India Services, State Civil Service, Police Service, and other government employees will not be allowed to participate in any media programs without prior permission from the government.

A ban has also been imposed on directly or indirectly releasing any documents or information to the press.

In addition, strict restrictions have been placed on writing in newspapers, participating in TV or radio discussions, and making critical comments about the government or its policies.

Employees have also been instructed to refrain from any remarks or disclosures that could potentially harm relations with the Centre or other states.
