Delhi Police has arrested two thousand 640 drug peddlers in the last two and a half years under Operation Kavach to make the national capital drug-free. The special operations have been carried out in various parts of the city, and 1,690 cases were registered under the Delhi Excise Act and 851 cases under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said this in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today. He informed that over 17 thousand kilograms of drugs like charas, opium, ganja, smack, heroin, poppy seed, and cocaine have been seized by Delhi Police.
