The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heat wave conditions at isolated places in the national capital for tomorrow. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius.
In view of the prevailing severe heatwave, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that detailed guidelines have been issued to all departments to ensure public safety. Under directions issued by the Labour Ministry, employers have been asked to provide adequate rest to workers between 1 PM and 4 PM, along with arrangements for drinking water, shade, and other essential facilities. The Chief Minister said that schools have been instructed to remain fully equipped to safeguard children. This includes ensuring the availability of drinking water, proper ventilation, fans, and suitable clothing conditions. She added that students should be given ORS solutions before leaving school to prevent dehydration. The Chief Minister also informed that the Transport Department has been directed to set up water counters near bus stops across the city. These counters will provide cold drinking water and ORS solutions to commuters. She added that special measures are being taken in schools to safeguard children, including ensuring the availability of clean drinking water, fans, and appropriate clothing.
Meanwhile, on the healthcare front, Chief Minister Gupta assured that hospitals in the city are fully prepared to handle any emergency arising from the heatwave.
