Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today invited educational institutions in the country to invest in the higher education sector in the Union Territory and partner in developing the region as a vibrant academic hub.
The Chief Minister stated this while interacting with a delegation of education sector representatives in Bengaluru, highlighting opportunities under the newly notified J&K Private University Act.
The J&K Private Universities Bill, 2026, was passed by the Legislative Assembly during the recent Budget Session. Mr Abdullah said the new framework opens significant opportunities for reputed institutions to establish campuses in the Union Territory, promoting a modern, inclusive and globally competitive education ecosystem.
He also assured a transparent and investor-friendly environment to attract students, scholars and research collaborations from across the country and abroad.
