In Chhattisgarh, at least nine workers have been killed in a boiler explosion at the Vedanta power plant in Sakti district. More than forty workers have sustained burn injuries. Eight are reported to be in critical condition. The plant is located in Singhanterai village of Dabhra block.
The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. Police and administrative teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur said the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.
