Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually attend the 22nd ASEAN – India Summit today. In a statement, External Affairs Ministry said, Prime Minister Modi and the ASEAN leaders will jointly review the progress in ASEAN-India relations and discuss initiatives for strengthening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It said, strengthening relationship with ASEAN is a key pillar of India’s Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific vision. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar will represent Prime Minister Modi at the 20th East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur on 27th October. The East Asia Summit will provide an opportunity to deliberate on the challenges to peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and also exchange views on regional and international developments.

केंद्रीय कृषि और किसान कल्याण मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने कहा है कि प्रधानमंत्री धन धान्य कृषि योजना के अंतर्गत रामनाथपुरम, शिवगंगा, थूथुकुडी और विरुधुनगर जिले शामिल हैं। वेल्लोर में किसानों से बातचीत में उन्होंने कहा कि इस परियोजना के अंतर्गत किसानों को व्यापक लाभ पहुँचाने के लिए 36 योजनाओं को एकीकृत किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने चार सहभागी कृषि विज्ञान केंद्रों के प्रमुखों के साथ योजना की प्रगति की समीक्षा की। श्री चौहान ने प्राकृतिक कृषि पद्धतियों और राष्ट्रीय दलहन मिशन पर ज़ोर दिया। इस अभियान में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के देश को दलहन उत्पादन में आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के दृष्टिकोण को रेखांकित किया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि तमिलनाडु जैसे राज्यों को उन्नत किस्मों, उन्नत तकनीक और सुनिश्चित विपणन के माध्यम से इस मिशन से बहुत लाभ होगा। श्री चौहान ने तमिलनाडु कृषि विश्वविद्यालय के अंतर्गत राष्ट्रीय दलहन केंद्र, वम्बन द्वारा विकसित उन्नत दलहन किस्मों की भी सराहना की। उन्होंने तमिलनाडु के किसानों की कड़ी मेहनत की सराहना की और कहा कि वह उनकी संस्कृति और मूल्यों का सम्मान करते हैं।

आज छठ महापर्व का दूसरा दिन है। इसे खरना के नाम से जाना जाता है। आज के दिन श्रद्धालु सूर्योदय से सूर्यास्त तक निर्जला उपवास रखते हैं। सूर्यास्त के समय सूर्य देव को अर्घ्य देने के बाद ही व्रत खोला जाता है। चार दिवसीय छठ पूजा कल नहाय-खाय के साथ शुरू हुई।

सूर्य देव और उनकी बहन छठी मैया की पूजा को समर्पित यह पर्व पवित्रता, कृतज्ञता और कल्‍याण की भावना का प्रतीक है।

Over 1.5 crore passengers have already traveled in trains operated so far in this festive season. Rail Ministry said in a statement that the number is expected to exceed 2.5 crore by the end of the festive period. Thirty major stations in Bihar and nearby areas in Uttar Pradesh have been equipped with large holding areas to ensure smoother crowd management.

Railway staff are working round the clock to assist passengers and maintain order so that everyone can reach home safely for the festivals. Railways has further strengthened arrangements to handle the peak travel period with Chhath Puja. ongoing.

The GST Bachat Utsav kicked off on the 22nd September as the Narendra Modi government slashed GST rates in many sectors, benefitting citizens across the country. Today, our correspondent brings a report on how the new GST rates in the healthcare sector are helping citizens.

 

The next-generation GST reforms have provided relief to the healthcare sector by reducing costs across medicines, equipment and essential services. The tax on essential medicines, previously at 12 percent, has now been reduced to 5 percent and 36 life-saving drugs have been fully exempted from the taxes, making treatments for chronic and severe illnesses more affordable. Medical devices and equipment such as gauze, bandages, diagnostic kits and thermometers now attract 5 percent GST instead of the previous 12 percent. This reduction has made diagnostic and treatment services cheaper.

 

Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Manish Kumar, a pharmacist in Delhi, said that due to the GST cut, prices of medicines have come down providing relief to the consumers.

बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर बना दबाव कल सुबह चक्रवात में बदल सकता है। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार चक्रवात मोन्था मंगलवार शाम या रात को आंध्र प्रदेश के तटीय इलाके काकीनाडा के पास एक भीषण चक्रवाती तूफान के रूप में दस्तक देगा। इससे आंध्र प्रदेश, ओडिशा और पश्चिम बंगाल में मूसलाधार बारिश होने की संभावना है। चेन्नई और तमिलना़डु के उत्तरी इलाकों में इसका ज़्यादा असर ना पड़ने का अनुमान है।

 

तमिलनाडु के उत्‍तरी जिलों में अगले 24 घंटों के दौरान तेज बारिश की संभावना है। मौसम विभाग  ने कल तमिलनाडु के अंदरूनी भागों में तेज बारिश का ऑरेज अलर्ट जारी किया है। अगले 24 घंटों में तिरुवल्लूर, चेन्नई, रानीपेट, कांचीपुरम, चेंगलपट्टू, चेन्नई और विल्लुपुरम जिलों में तेज बारिश की संभावना है। मछुआरों को बुधवार तक समुद्र में न जाने की सलाह दी गई है।

Cabinet Secretary, Dr T V Somanathan chaired a meeting of National Crises Management Committee (NCMC) yesterday to review preparedness for the impending cyclone in Bay of Bengal. India Meteorological Department briefed the Committee about the current status of the depression, which is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by 28th of this month and cross several states across the eastern and southern coast of the country. The Chief Secretaries of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha apprised the Committee of the preparatory measures being taken to protect the population in the expected path of cyclonic storm. .

India’s Hansika Lamba and Sarika Malik settled for Silver medals at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships in Serbia. Hansika Lamba competed in the 53kg final but lost to Haruna Morikawa of Japan with a score of 0-4. In the 55kg category, Sarika Malik, faced Ruka Natami. Sarika tried to use her strength for a push-out but was caught by the Japanese wrestler, who executed a two-pointer on the edge of the circle to take a 2-1 lead.

The Air Intelligence Unit of Chennai Customs intercepted an Indian male passenger who had arrived from Bangkok at Chennai International Airport on 25th. The unit, which had acted on specific intelligence , examined the baggage and recovered 1480 gms of hydroponic ganja valued at Rs.1.47 Crores  concealed in 04 vacuum sealed food packets. The passenger was remanded to  judicial custody.Further investigation is under progress.

The State Council for higher education has prepared an action plan for revamping the laboratories in arts and science colleges . Lecturers will be given lab based pedagogical training . Students will be encouraged to design experiments to solve real world problems. Further, there will be emphasis on giving more time for lab experiments for documenting observations and maintaining lab records.

Karnataka’s well known actor, director and screenwriter Prakash Belawadi has filed a Public Interest Litigation in Karnataka High Court against the proposed Tunnel road project in Bengaluru by the State Government. Appearing for the petitioner, the Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya sought the Court’s attention towards the lack of an Environmental Impact Assessment for the project. He also pointed out that the project is envisaged without consulting the Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority. He argued in the Chief Justice of Karnataka court that around 6.5 acres of Lalbagh garden will be taken over for the project, thereby causing threat to 3000 million year old Lalbagh rock, recognised as a National Geological Monument. A bench of Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice CM Poonacha directed the Additional Government Advocate to provide information of the project and its impact on Lalbagh botanical garden. It also sought input from the Geological Survey of India on the Environmental Impact Assessment and posted the matter for hearing on October 28.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over several parts of Telangana for three days from tomorrow, due to the current depression over the Bay of Bengal.  The Hyderabad Met Centre informed that the weather system, likely to strengthen into a deep depression by tomorrow taking the shape of a cyclone.  The authorities further said under its influence, heavy rains are likely in some parts of Telangana, especially the southern and eastern districts of the State. They also said the rainfall activity is likely to continue till 29th of this month, though its intensity will gradually decrease. -EoM

नागालैंड के हॉर्नबिल महोत्सव की प्रस्तावना के रूप में आयोजित दो दिवसीय शरदोत्सव कल नई दिल्ली में संपन्न हुआ। नागा समुदाय के सदस्यों के साथ-साथ दिल्ली और देश के अन्य हिस्सों से बड़ी संख्या में लोग इस महोत्सव में शामिल हुए। महोत्सव में, नागा समुदाय के लोगों ने आदिवासी परिधान, हस्तशिल्प, पारंपरिक बर्तन, व्यंजन और जैविक रूप से उगाई गई सब्जियों सहित राज्य की वस्तुओं को प्रदर्शित करने वाले स्टॉल लगाए। नागालैंड के पर्यटन मंत्री, तेमजेन इम्ना अलोंग भी इस महोत्सव में शामिल हुए। आकाशवाणी समाचार से विशेष बातचीत में, श्री अलोंग ने कहा कि यह आयोजन राज्य की संस्कृति को देश के लोगों के सामने प्रस्तुत करता है। उन्होंने कहा कि हॉर्नबिल महोत्सव भारत के सबसे प्रमुख सांस्कृतिक समागम के रूप में विकसित हुआ है।

मुंबई और ठाणे जिलें में कल रुक-रुक कर मध्यम बारिश हुई, जिसके बीच शहर में येलो अलर्ट जारी किया गया है। मौसम विभाग ने क्षेत्र में अपना येलो अलर्ट मंगलवार सुबह तक बढ़ा दिया है। शुक्रवार रात एक घंटे की अवधि में द्वीप शहर संभाग में 50 मिमी से अधिक की भारी बारिश के बाद, मुंबई और उसके आसपास के इलाकों में शनिवार को आसमान बादलों से ढका रहा, ठाणे, नवी मुंबई और पश्चिमी उपनगरों के कुछ इलाकों में दिन में हल्की से मध्यम बारिश हुई। मंगलवार सुबह तक भारी बारिश की गतिविधि जारी रहने की संभावना है।

मौसम विभाग ने पश्चिम बंगाल के कई जिलों में हल्की से मध्यम बारिश का अनुमान जताया है। बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर बना कम दबाव का क्षेत्र सोमवार को पश्चिम मध्य बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर चक्रवात में बदल सकता है। भाजपा ने बांग्लादेश से आए शरणार्थियों से सीएए शिविरों में अपना नाम दर्ज कराने की अपील की है। 31 दिसंबर 2024 से पहले आए बांग्लादेशी शरणार्थियों को भारत की नागरिकता दी जाएगी। पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा में विपक्ष के नेता शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने शनिवार को प्रेस को बताया कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी द्वारा पश्चिम बंगाल में विभिन्न स्थानों पर हेल्प डेस्क और शिविरों की व्यवस्था की गई है

उधर मुम्बई में आज आंशिक रूप से बादल छाये रहने और हल्‍की से मध्‍यम वर्षा या गरज के साथ बिजली कड़कने और तेज हवाओं के साथ तूफान की संभावना है । शहर में आज न्यूनतम तापमान 25 और अधिकतम तापमान 36 डिग्री सेल्सियस रहने का अनुमान है।

 

इसके अलावा, कोलकाता में भी आंशिक रूप से बादल छाए रहने की संभावना है। आज का न्यूनतम तापमान 26 और अधिकतम तापमान 33 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आस-पास रहेगा।
