Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in the United States on a four-day visit yesterday. US President Donald Trump and First Lady of the US Melania Trump welcomed them to Washington DC.
The King and Queen were then shown the beehives in the White House gardens, which were first established in 2009, serving as an enduring feature of the grounds across multiple administrations and producing honey for the White House. During the summer, the hive is home to approximately 70 thousand bees.
The visit marks the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence from British rule. King Charles is also set to address the US Congress. The visit comes days after the Washington press dinner shooting and amid differences between the US and the UK over Iran war and conflict in the West Asia region.
