In a successful crackdown on narcotics trafficking, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and the Customs Department at the Agartala Railway Station in West Tripura District led to the seizure of approximately 180 grams of morphine worth 18 lakh rupees.
Acting on the coordination, security forces apprehended one individual, identified as Arun Kumar Chakma, at the spot in connection with the recovery. The seized contraband and the detained suspect have been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal proceedings, showcasing the unwavering commitment of the Assam Rifles to maintaining security in the region. According to an official spokesperson from the Assam Rifles, the raid took place on specific inputs.
It is worth mentioning in this context that this is the second major drug bust by the paramilitary force in Tripura within a week. Earlier, on May 16, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), had intercepted a massive shipment of approximately one lakh Yaba tablets worth an estimated ₹8 crore in Mungiakami.
