In Jammu and Kashmir, seventy senior officers, including IAS and JKAS officers, have been assigned specific border villages to oversee the implementation of Vibrant Villages Programme-II, launched by the Government to ensure comprehensive and sustainable development of villages along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC).
These officers will undertake field visits to the allotted Vibrant Villages to review the status of infrastructure, service delivery, and implementation of ongoing schemes. They will also identify gaps in critical sectors, including connectivity, health, education, livelihoods, and digital access.
The visiting officers will interact with local stakeholders, Border Guarding Forces, and civil society organisations, and will also ensure convergence of Central and Union Territory schemes. The Deputy Commissioners have been directed to facilitate these field visits and extend necessary logistical and administrative support, while all line departments have been asked to provide full cooperation.
These officers will submit detailed reports to the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department by June 30, 2026.
