Visakhapatnam Port Authority records highest-ever cargo throughput of 91.17 MMTs in FY 2025-26

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has achieved its highest-ever cargo throughput of 91.17 million metric tonnes (MMTs) during the financial year 2025-26, recording a growth of 10.34 percent over the previous year.


Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal appreciated the achievement in a letter addressed to VPA Chairperson Dr. M. Angamuthu.


The Minister congratulated the Chairperson, officers and employees of the port, stating that the record performance reflected strong leadership, efficient operations and effective cargo handling despite global trade and logistics challenges.


He also praised the port for improving productivity, turnaround efficiency, digital initiatives, stakeholder coordination and customer-focused services.


According to the Minister, the achievement supports the Government of India’s vision of developing modern and future-ready maritime hubs while improving logistics efficiency and ease of doing business.


Mr. Sonowal said, the performance of Visakhapatnam Port Authority has set a benchmark for other ports and strengthened its position as one of the country’s leading maritime gateways.
