On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day today, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have extended their greetings to the citizens of the country.
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has extended greetings to all citizens, especially to elected representatives and functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions across the country. In a social media post, Mr Radhakrishnan said that Panchayati Raj embodies the spirit of grassroots democracy and participatory governance, empowers local communities, and strengthens inclusive development, ensuring that people’s voices are heard in decision-making at the village level. He noted that Panchayats play a crucial role in advancing rural transformation and that their contribution is vital in building a self-reliant and resilient Viksit Bharat.
The Vice President said that this day inspires renewed efforts towards strengthening the country’s democratic institutions and achieving sustainable development for all.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also extended his greetings to the citizens of the country on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day today. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that the Panchayat system is one of the oldest democratic traditions of India and a strong pillar of democracy. He added that Panchayats, which play a vital role in rural development, governance and administration, social justice, disaster management, and cultural preservation, are becoming increasingly empowered and self-reliant.
