Punjab to conduct 15-minute blackout mock drill tonight to test emergency preparedness

Punjab will conduct a procedural blackout mock drill tonight between 8 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. to assess emergency preparedness. It has been designed solely to evaluate and enhance civil defence preparedness in the state. The public need not worry about anything.

Following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, this civil defence air raid/blackout mock exercise will be conducted only in already identified areas across all districts and not in the entire districts.

It will commence with an air raid warning signal, which will be disseminated through sirens featuring a high-low pitch for two minutes. The general public in these identified areas has been instructed to switch off all non-essential lighting during the blackout period. However, essential services will remain fully functional throughout the drill.
