Continuous heavy rainfall across several districts of Uttarakhand has severely disrupted normal life. In Mopata village of Dewal tehsil, Chamoli district, two people are reported missing and two others injured after being caught in debris triggered by excessive rainfall.
A cowshed was also damaged, with reports indicating that 15 to 20 animals may be trapped. Some families in the same area are also reported to be stranded. The local administration is conducting relief and rescue operations on a war footing, with officials directed to ensure effective coordination. In the Bareth Dungar Tok area of Basukedar tehsil in Rudraprayag district, daily life has also been badly affected by the intense rainfall. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that he is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant contact with officials.
He has instructed the Disaster Secretary and District Magistrates to ensure the efficient execution of rescue efforts. Given the persistent rainfall, all schools and Anganwadi centers in the districts of Pithoragarh, Champawat, and Bageshwar have been closed today. Meanwhile, the Met Department has issued a warning for continued heavy rainfall across various parts of the state in the coming days.
