Union Minister for Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated and laid the foundation for various port projects worth approximately 1500 Crore rupees at Tuticorin port, in Tamil Nadu today. This includes VOC Maritime heritage museum, laying of the foundation stone for 8 MW Wind farm and 5 MWh of Battery Energy storage System and the launching of corporate social responsibility projects at the Port. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the ancient history of Tamil Culture commands a national aspiration.
He said that this part of the Country carries an ancient maritime tradition with a nationalist perspective for centuries. He said that the Sengol in the new parliament shows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a profound respect for the deep-rooted Tamil tradition. He said that it also reflected in the timeless wisdom of the Tamilians. The Minister said, more than 3 lakh crore has been spent for the infrastructure expansion, sustainable and technological advancement.
