Two killed, 21 injured in Nepal bus accident; relief announced for victims’ families

At least two people, a woman and a child, were killed and 21 others injured in a road accident in Nepal’s Pyuthan district last night. The injured included the driver and passengers, many of whom are from the UP-Nepal border areas. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of the deceased.

DM Maharajganj Santosh Kumar Sharma informed that the accident occurred when a passenger bus suddenly went out of control and fell into a gorge. He spoke to the Chief District Officer of Rupandehi district in Nepal, following which the injured were admitted to Lumbini City Hospital in Butwal for treatment.

As part of the emergency response, SDM Nautanwa Naveen Prasad was dispatched to the site to oversee relief and coordination efforts, while the ADM (Finance) set up a camp at Sonauli to facilitate coordination with Nepalese authorities. Four advanced life support ambulances, along with six additional ambulances, were deployed to assist in evacuation and provide medical support.
