The Government of Tripura has introduced a series of austerity measures aimed at reducing expenditure and conserving fuel. The General Administration (Administrative Reforms) Department issued a memorandum yesterday following the Prime Minister’s appeal to conserve fuel and encourage work-from-home practices wherever feasible.
Under the new directives, Heads of Departments have been asked to ensure that only 50 percent of Group C and Group D employees attend office daily. The remaining employees will work from home on a rotational basis. Departments have also been instructed to prepare weekly duty rosters, allowing staff to attend office on alternate weeks.
The memorandum states that employees working from home must remain available through telephone and electronic communication and report to office immediately in case of emergencies or urgent official work.
The State Government has further advised Public Sector Undertakings, local bodies, autonomous and statutory organizations, and subordinate offices to adopt similar measures. However, essential and emergency services have been kept outside the purview of the order. The directives have come into immediate effect and will continue until further orders.
