Three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda to be established to prepare more skilled health personnel

Government to set up three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda, upgrade AYUSH pharmacies and Drug Testing Labs for higher standards of certification ecosystem, and make available more skilled personnel. Presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 in Lok Sabha, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said that to create professionals for the Viksit Bharat, existing institutions for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) will be upgraded and new AHP Institutions established in private and Government sectors. She said, a strong care ecosystem, covering geriatric and allied care services will be built. She expressed confidence that over one lakh 50 thousand caregivers will be trained in the coming year.

The Minister further informed that  the government is set to launch a scheme to support States in establishing five Regional Medical Hubsin partnership with the private sector to promote India as a hub for medical tourism. She said, these hubs will serve as integrated health care complexes that combine medical, educational and research facilities. Highlighting the global recognition for the Ayurveda, the Minister said, exporting quality Ayurvedic products will help the farmers who grow the herbs and to meet growing global demand. The Minister said, the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar will be upgraded to bolster evidence-based research, training and awareness for traditional medicine.
