Tamil Nadu records 82.24% voter turnout in latest polling update

Tamil Nadu has created a record turnout of 82.24% polling, according to the latest status available at 5 pm. The voting will still go on as tokens have been issued. Out of the 38 districts, 30 have registered over 80% of the votes. This has beaten the 2011 record polling created after delimitation, where it was 78% of the votes. Except for eight districts, the remaining 30 have recorded over 80% of the votes. The western districts of the State have registered more votes than the other parts of the State. Karur has recorded a maximum of 89% of the votes. Chennai has recorded 83.44% of votes in the district out of the 16 constituencies, and 12 have registered over 80% of votes.
