Severe heatwave grips Rajasthan; IMD issues orange and yellow alerts

Most districts of Rajasthan are currently in the grip of intense heatwave conditions. The Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for heatwave conditions in two districts of the state today, while a yellow alert has been issued for 14 districts.

Severe heat and hot winds are troubling people across the state. Along with daytime conditions, nights are also extremely warm. In most districts, daytime temperatures are recorded between 42 and 46 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures are ranging between 26 and 31 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department has predicted that heatwave conditions are likely to continue for the next three days.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar has directed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements in hospitals for heatwave management. Instructions have been issued to reserve separate beds for heatstroke patients, ensure availability of essential medicines, and arrange shade and drinking water facilities in hospitals.
