Political parties intensify campaign in West Bengal ahead of first phase polls

Political parties in West Bengal have launched high-pitch campaigns ahead of the first phase of the Assembly elections on 23rd April, with rallies, roadshows, and sharp exchange counter exchange dominating the political landscape. The Trinamool Congress,  Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress-led INDIA bloc are all intensifying efforts to sway voters in the state’s 16 districts where polling will take place.
 
Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah is on a busy schedule today in North Bengal. At 11:30 AM, he will lead a roadshow at Kaliaganj in the Uttar Dinajpur district. This will be followed by a public meeting at Gochiar Gangarampur Ground in South Dinajpur. His next two stops are at Manikchak and Gazole in Malda North.
 
On Tuesday, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee also has multiple campaign programmes scheduled in the state. According to Trinamool sources, around 11:30 in the morning, she will hold a public meeting in Pingla in Paschim Medinipur around 12 noon, she will address a meeting in Tamluk. Later, around 1 p.m., she will hold a meeting in Jagatballavpur in Howrah. Congress leader and Lok Sabha Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi will also campaign in the state today. He is scheduled to address three major rallies. At 11 a.m., Rahul Gandhi will speak at Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur; at 1 p.m., he will address a public meeting at Chopra of the same district. Later, at 3 p.m., he will hold a rally in Samsherganj at Murshidabad.
