Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a six-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy on Friday.
Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sibi George stated that on the first leg of his five-nation visit, Mr Modi will reach UAE on Friday, where he will meet the President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He said, the two leaders will exchange views on bilateral issues, in particular energy cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Mr George said, for the second leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will reach Netherlands on the same day. This will be Prime Minister’s second visit to the Netherlands after 2017. He said, during the visit, Mr Modi will call on King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and hold talks with Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
The Secretary (West) in MEA said, for the third leg of the visit, Mr Modi will travel to Gothenburg, Sweden on Sunday. Mr Modi will hold bilateral talks with his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation to enhance bilateral trade. as well as collaboration in green transition, AI, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action and people-to-people ties. He said, the two Prime Ministers will also address the European Round Table for Industry, a leading pan-European business leaders forum, along with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
Mr George said, in the fourth leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will reach Norway on Monday for the 3rd India-Nordic Summit and bilateral engagements. This will be the first visit of Prime Minister Modi to Norway, and will mark the first Prime Ministerial visit from India to Norway in 43 years. He said, the Prime Minister will call on King Harald V and Queen Sonja and hold bilateral talks with his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Støre. Both Prime Ministers will also address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit.
The Secretay said, the 3rd India-Nordic Summit will take place on Tuesday. Mr Modi will be joined by the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister of Iceland Kristrún Frostadóttir and Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson for the Summit. He said, the Summit will impart a more strategic dimension to India’s relationship with the Nordic countries, especially in technology and innovation, green transition and renewable energy, sustainability, blue economy, defence, space and the Arctic.
Mr George said, in the final leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will undertake an official visit to Italy on Tuesday. He said, during the visit, Mr Modi will call on the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella and hold talks with Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. PM Modi will also visit the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO. India is a founding member of FAO since 1945.
