Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that when women become active participants in policy-making and decision-making, the journey towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047 is strengthened.
In a letter to India’s Nari Shakti, Mr Modi said that in the next two days, on the 16th of April, Parliament will reconvene to discuss an important constitutional amendment relating to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. He expressed hope that the legislation would be passed in the House. He added that women from all over the nation are expressing their joy at getting a stronger opportunity to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister said that the country’s democracy will become stronger and more vibrant if the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and various Assembly elections are held with women’s reservation fully in place. Mr Modi stressed that any further delay in passing the legislation will be unfortunate and a gross injustice to the women of the country. He emphasised that when the voice of women becomes stronger in the country’s legislatures, the voice of democracy itself becomes stronger. Mr Modi urged all to come together and ensure that women’s representation in legislative bodies is introduced in letter and spirit at the earliest.
Prime Minister Modi said that at the grassroots, countless Self-Help Groups and Lakhpati Didis are showing how self-reliance can be achieved and how other women can be empowered. He added that Science and innovation, which are guiding the progress of humankind in the 21st century, have seen an increasing participation of women. He reiterated the government’s commitment to implement what has been pending for decades.
BJP President Nitin Nabin has said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam represents a decisive step towards strengthening country’s democracy. Sharing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s letter written to women across the country, Mr Nabin said that a truly inclusive democracy can only be realised when women have an equal voice in shaping the nation’s future. He said, greater participation of women in policymaking is not just necessary but it is a rightful recognition of the leadership and capability of the Nari Shakti. BJP President said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the government is fully committed to bringing this transformative legislation into effect at the earliest. He urged everyone to come together to support this historic reform and take a collective step towards building a more inclusive, empowered, and progressive India.
