Sahitya Akademi today released the Hindi translation of acclaimed novel The Last Day, celebrating literary exchange and cultural collaboration between India and Lithuania. The book, titled in Hindi – Antim Din, is written by Lithuanian-Ukrainian author Jaroslavas Melnikas and was released in collaboration with the Embassy of Lithuania at Rabindra Bhawan in New Delhi. Sahitya Akademi President Madhav Kaushik hailed it as a major milestone in its ongoing efforts to promote world literature in Indian languages. He highlighted that the novel marks the first ever translation of a Lithuanian fiction book into Hindi, and explores themes of existential change and cultural identity.
