Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita will be on a four-day visit to the South Pacific island nations of Vanuatu and Tuvalu from April 22. During his visit to Vanuatu, the Minister is expected to have bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of the country. The Minister will also visit the Centre of Excellence in Information Technology in Vanuatu, a facility set up with assistance from the Indian Government.
During his visit to Tuvalu, Mr Margherita will hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and other dignitaries of the country. He will also review the ongoing developmental assistance projects being implemented under the Grants in Aid programme of India.
The External Affairs Ministry said that this visit underscores India’s commitment to strengthening political and developmental cooperation ties with Pacific Island countries and is a continuation of the historic 3rd Summit of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation held in Port Moresby.
