Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, attended the Naval Civilian Function 2026 organised by the Indian Navy in New Delhi yesterday to recognise the contributions of Naval Civilians towards enhancing the operational preparedness and overall effectiveness of the Indian Navy.
The Defence Ministry, in a statement, said that the event underscores the government’s continued efforts to recognise and empower Naval Civilians for their role in national defence. Addressing the gathering, Mr Seth described Naval Civilians as the ‘Neenv ka Pathar’ of the Indian Navy and said their dedication, professionalism and commitment form a critical pillar in maintaining a combat-ready, credible and future-ready naval force.
During the event, Mr Seth inaugurated the iGOT Karmayogi platform, Saksham (NCMIS 2.0) programme and NavKalp initiative. He also underlined the implementation of the Defence Travel System, enabling cashless air and rail travel for Naval Civilians on official duty. He said the government remains committed to resolving issues concerning Naval Civilians.
Meanwhile, speaking at the event, Chief of Naval Staff Dinesh K Tripathi also highlighted the role of civilian personnel in strengthening naval preparedness and supporting operations and major events. He said Naval Civilians are a vital force multiplier and have contributed significantly to enhancing the operational readiness of the Navy. The Ministry added that the Meritorious and cash awards were also presented to Naval Civilians for their outstanding performance and dedication to duty during the event.
