Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis inaugurates 13.3-km Missing Link on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated the 13.3-km-long Missing Link project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, marking the occasion of Maharashtra Day.

The new stretch is expected to reduce the distance between Mumbai and Pune by around 6 km, cutting travel time by approximately 20 to 30 minutes and easing congestion on the busy corridor.

Officials said that in the initial phase, the route will be open only to light vehicles. Buses will be allowed in the subsequent phase, while heavy vehicles will continue to ply on the existing route.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and Eknath Shinde also accepted a certificate from Guinness World Records for the world’s widest underground tunnel, measuring 22.33 metres, constructed in the Lonavala stretch of the project.
