A one-day special session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been convened today on the theme of ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’, where there will be a special discussion on women’s empowerment and development. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will present an important resolution in the House today, demanding that after the completion of the delimitation process, one-third reservation for women be implemented with immediate effect in Parliament and all State Legislative Assemblies.
The proceedings of the House will begin at 11 AM and will continue in two phases until 5:30 PM. Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party had organised a “Jan Aakrosh Mahila Pad Yatra” in the state capital, Bhopal. The march was attended by Chief Minister Dr Yadav, BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal, several ministers, and members of the Mahila Morcha. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act had already been passed in Parliament, but the Constitution Amendment Bill fell in the Lok Sabha on April 17. During the assembly session, tributes will also be paid to several eminent personalities, including the late singer Asha Bhosle.
