Karnataka HC to hear PIL on Chinnaswamy stadium stampede that killed 11

Karnataka High Court will take up the issue of the Chinnaswamy stadium stampede that killed 11 persons last night in Bengaluru. The court will hear the petition in the afternoon. A PIL has been filed before the court to seek details on the causes of death, arrangements for the event and safety and security measures taken up by the Karnataka government. Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot has asked the state government to conduct an impartial inquiry into the tragic incident and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai has demanded a Judicial enquiry into the incident. After visiting the victims of the stampede, he blamed the state government for ignoring the security inputs and the intelligence report on the influx of crowds towards the venue.
