Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah today blamed negligence for the fatal road accident in Udhampur district, saying preliminary findings point to lapses on the part of the bus operator. The Chief Minister assured that strict action will be taken once the inquiry report is submitted.

The Chief Minister also assured full support to the affected families and emphasized the need for strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future. He said, it is deeply unfortunate that many precious lives were lost. 21 people were killed and 51 others injured when an overcrowded passenger bus plunged nearly 100 metres down a hillside in Ramnagar area of Udhampur district on 20th April. Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur has ordered an inquiry.
