In Jammu & Kashmir, the Legislative Assembly today passed a strongly-worded resolution to condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam. The resolution, which described the attack as heinous, barbaric, inhumane, and a cowardly act, was unanimously adopted by the House after a three-hour long discussion. The resolution stated that such acts of terror directly attack the ethos of Kashmiriyat, the values of the Constitution, and the spirit of unity, peace, and harmony. The Assembly expressed solidarity with the victims of the recent terror attack and extended condolences to their families. The House hailed the bravery of Syed Adil Hussain, who sacrificed his life to save tourists, and praised the people of J&K for their resilience and unity in the aftermath. It also endorsed the Union Government’s diplomatic measures.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Kashmir has revolted against terrorism for the first time since the onset of terrorism, following the Pahalgam attack. The Chief Minister praised the spontaneous outpouring of grief and condemnation across the region, marking the beginning of the end of terrorism. He highlighted the unprecedented public response, with Kashmiris coming together to reject terrorism. Mr. Abdullah expressed hope, stating that terrorism will end when the people stand united.
